The Hitchin Christmas Hamper Appeal is here! Can you believe this is its 7th year!

Our Hamper Appeal last year saw a change in operation due to lockdown restrictions and worries about supplies. Our families received instead a supermarket voucher for the equivalent of a festive shop plus store cupboard essentials. The feedback we got back was very positive. Having a voucher allowed them to choose products that were more suited to their dietary needs and the dignity of choice.

Now with the upcoming festive period this year, the decision has been made to issue vouchers for the 'Hampers'. As with last year we will still be delivering gift bags of toys and treats to those families with children to bring the warmth of a human touch at what can be a difficult time of the year for many.

Today we launch our Just Giving page for 2021, funds raised will help those most in need at Christmas. Though Covid restrictions have lifted and more businesses are back open again, many will be feeling the pinch this year. Energy and petrol costs are going up, the Universal Credit £20 uplift has been removed, food costs are going up, and many job losses have occured over the last year. We don't just help those in financial need either, but also those with health and mental health issues or family breakdowns.

Our aim is to help 160 families and individuals this year. Can you help make their Christmas a little bit easier. Please give what you can, every single penny goes towards them. WE CAN DO THIS!

Though you may never know who they are, your generosity allowed them to finally breathe and gave them comfort and cheer. Click below to donate and share, share, share!

The Appeal is coordinated by the Hitchin Christmas Community Team which comprises: Hitchin Partnership CIO (Family Support Team), Zeo Church, Hitchin Volunteer Army, Rotary Club of Hitchin Tilehouse, The Hitchin Youth Trust, Hitchin Round Table, The Salvation Army, Feed Up Warm Up and Hitchin Foodbank.
